Gardens: Fun For Everyone!
Did you know that it’s possible to eat healthier, get more fresh air and exercise, spend time with your loved ones and save money at the same time? All it takes is a little time spent in the gardens.
Gardens. “For Your Health!”
We all know that one of the best ways to eat healthier is to incorporate more fresh fruits and vegetables into your diet. Not only are they good for you, but there’s nothing quite like the taste of freshly picked produce. If you’re new to gardening, we recommend you try tomatoes and cucumbers; they are some of the easiest vegetables to grow, and if you add a little onion and vinaigrette, you’ve got a pretty spectacular summer salad! We also have information on growing other vegetables, like kale, spinach, potatoes, as well as growing berries.
Besides needing the right foods, your body also needs to keep moving to be healthy. When you’re gardening, you’re digging, weeding, shovelling and more. On top of that is all the Vitamin D you’re soaking up with the sun’s rays. Gardening is also good for the soul; there have been multiple studies done that show it can have a positive effect on your mental and emotional health. When you’re gardening with your loved ones – a spouse, a child, a parent – you’re sharing those benefits with them, while also bonding over a joint project. Talk about win-win!
